Welcome to our lab of Neurolinguistics!
GenLab is home to a research group located at the Department of Psychology of the Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany.
We are a young group of individuals whose main goal is to disentangle the cognitive pathways that govern how the mind processes language, ultimately contributing to the vast question of how readers build meaning from speech and text accross languages. Combining neurolinguistics with developmental, social, and cognitive psychology, linguistics, and sociolinguistics, we study some of the most challenging features of language in research, learning, and everyday use.
Grammatical gender and its intricacies are our core focus, as the basis of the funding that allowed us to open our doors. We also conduct research on emotion and grammar, negation and grammar, and, more recently, reading in an AI-mediated world.
Our research primarily relies on electroencephalography, and we coordinate a laboratory fully equipped with cutting-edge EEG technology.

We are committed to open science. Our studies are published in open-access journals. All experiment programming codes, stimulus materials, data pre-processing and analysis scripts, as well as preprints, are made freely available on the OSF.
